What extensions are for

laptop

The main purpose of extensions is clear from the name itself – to extend the functionality of the browser. A plugin can be used to embed its elements into any cloud service for the purpose of integration, additional features for SaaS, creation of a microservice, or simply as an additional tool.

Depending on the purpose for which the extension is created, the following types of extensions can be distinguished:

Integration extensions

Cloud software for CRMokok, warehouse management programs and many other business systems are becoming more and more popular, and no cloud provider does not give you the opportunity to build into it, and adjust it to yourself. In this case, an extension is a cool opportunity to take a well-designed cloud service, and build one or more of your own buttons into it. You can assign it a data export function, and set up the process of data exchange between different back-end systems. This way you can get custom functionality for someone else’s cloud software.

Microservices

These are micro-applications that are called “on the button” and interact with the page. You need them for services that make sense to run in the environment of another site/application. It is able to read information from the site on which it was invoked, and thus greatly simplify user interaction. It can be any services of notes, screenshots or videos, they can not just save data, but immediately upload it to the cloud, or send it, for example, by mail.

Tools for developers

Calling tools without closing the browser is a very convenient feature for developers. There are a large number of such extensions, but we’ll talk about that another time.
